Since 2002, LE has developed and refined motor control techniques through software and hardware integration with proven power stage IGBTs. The algorithms developed result in a wide speed range of operations for the LE SmartTorq™ motors. The DSP based motor controller with EEPROM non-volatile memory allows motors to match with their power electronics for the best system performance. The topology has evolved to a power efficient and small package design worthy of many applications.

As fuel costs continue to rise and emissions legislation gets tougher, LE offers a highly efficient, more power dense, less costly generator set solution that allows significant fuel savings using patented GenSmart™ technology. These generators are featured in LE’s variable speed AC power generation systems, (VSPG) as well as constant speed DC systems. Our SG series engine generators are lightweight, compact units suitable for stationary applications where fuel efficiency is of high importance. Fuel savings of up to 30% can be achieved in comparison to traditional gensets and APU products. The VSPG series generator sets offer LE’s patented technology featuring higher power density in a smaller package and improved motor starting capability over traditional fixed speed gensets. When it comes to motor starting capabilities, traditional fixed speed generator sets use a 2.5kW=1HP ratio (genset size to motor load) for determining the correct size of the generator set. This routinely leads to lower operating efficiencies due to partial loading of typical generators under normal conditions. LE’s GenSmart™ VSG enables the sizing of the generator set for acceptable motor starting to be accomplished with a 1kW=1HP ratio, resulting in smaller, less costly generator sets in comparison to traditional fixed speed units.
